Interior Portraits are one part of a body of work that took its inception from the works of Anais Nin. Literature and research play a large role in my process.
These works on paper are open to interpretation; they are landscapes of the soul, the Illuminating of life.
Each piece developed from appropriated historical images, drawings on rice paper, and manipulated photos which I then collaged onto the paper and layered with many materials (graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, washes of translucent paint, etc.). The layers act as veils revealing and transmitting information and the light reflecting through the layers embraces the state of life as flux, evolving or declining in a constant movement of energy.
